Since the team’s founding, the Copperheads has strived to provide fun and affordable summer entertainment for local families and community members. Beyond baseball, the team also supports our community in other ways. The Copperheads are YOUR summer baseball team, and in return, we want to give back.
Some examples of our commitment to community include:
- Hosting or contributing to dozens of fun community events every season
- Annual fundraisers to support local families in distress
- Volunteering at local nonprofits and community projects
- Hosting baseball/softball clinics for kids
- Sponsoring 8+ little league baseball/softball teams each year
- Prioritizing local businesses and organizations for partnerships, services, and sourcing
Some of the accomplishments we are most proud of include:
- In 2022, the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce awarded us the Community Support Award.
- In the 2025 Homer Over Hunger Food Drive, we set the Athens County Food Pantry record for most non-perishable food items donated in a single donation since they have used electronic scales.
- We have donated over $16,000 total to Turn It Gold and local families battling childhood cancer.
- In 2025, we hosted and participated in 62 community events—smashing our previous record of 42 from 2024.
- Each year, we host our OhioHealth Hitting & Pitching Clinic where our players teach 200 kids from ages 6-13 the essentials of baseball and softball.
- In 2025, we partnered with Hocking Valley Bank to host our first ever Love Athens County Day where our fans gathered to listen to local bands, savor food from local food trucks, and enjoy games for all ages.
