The Copperheads (3-13) suffered a loss to the Muskegon Clippers (8-8) at home.
The Copperheads had one run, five hits and two errors. The Clippers had 19 runs, 17 hits and two errors.
Jacob Napier (#34) started on the mound for the Cheads. He had three strikeouts, three walks and six earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched.
The Clippers quickly pulled ahead in the top of the first, racking up four runs. They scored again at the top of the fourth and top of the fifth to make the score 6-0.
Logan Martin (#39) took the mound for the Copperheads during the fifth. He had three walks and three earned runs in 2.2 innings pitched.
The Clippers scored another run in the top of the sixth to make the score 7-0. Muskegon scored two more points in the top of the seventh to bring them up 9-0.
Sam Dawson (#20) took the mound for the Cheads during the eighth. He had four walks and seven earned runs in 1.1 innings pitched.
Lance Morgan (#30) scored at the bottom of the eighth to make the score 19-1.
Cole Davis (#23) subbed in to pitch during the ninth inning. He had one walk and two earned runs.
The Copperheads dropped the series opener 19-1, but are back at Bob Wren tomorrow for a double header against the Clippers. The games are at 4:05 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. If you can’t make the games, catch the broadcast on Flo Sports. Go Copperheads!

The Southern Ohio Copperheads is a community-owned, student-operated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Established in 2002, the Copperheads is a summer collegiate wooden bat baseball team that competes in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League and plays its home games at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens, OH. The Copperheads organization strives to provide the most affordable means of family-friendly outdoor entertainment in southeast Ohio. Tickets to the Copperheads games are $5 and children under the age of 5 receive free admission. Staffed by Ohio University students, the Southern Ohio Copperheads also serve as a “learning lab” for student interns looking to work in the sport and entertainment industry.
