The Copperheads (4-16) fell short to the Grand Lake Mariners (14-5) at home for Ohio Health Firework Night.
The Cheads finished with zero runs, five hits and two errors. The Mariners had 10 runs, seven hits and zero errors.
Jack Leonard (#13) started on the mound for the Cheads. He had three strikeouts, three walks and six earned runs in four innings pitched.
The Mariners scored two runs in the top of the second to make the score 2-0. At the top of the fourth, the Mariners racked up six more runs to bring them up 8-0.
Colin Hirschkorn (#29) took the mound for the Copperheads at the top of the fifth. He had two strikeouts, one walk and two earned runs.
The Mariners scored two more runs in the top of the fifth to make the score 10-0.
At the top of the sixth, Nick Massie (#27) took the mound for the Cheads. Massie was the Wings Over Player of the Game. He gave up one hit, zero runs earned and zero walks in two innings pitched.
The Copperheads were unable to put any runs on the board. The final score of the game was 10-0.

The Southern Ohio Copperheads is a community-owned, student-operated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Established in 2002, the Copperheads is a summer collegiate wooden bat baseball team that competes in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League and plays its home games at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens, OH. The Copperheads organization strives to provide the most affordable means of family-friendly outdoor entertainment in southeast Ohio. Tickets to the Copperheads games are $5 and children under the age of 5 receive free admission. Staffed by Ohio University students, the Southern Ohio Copperheads also serve as a “learning lab” for student interns looking to work in the sport and entertainment industry.
