
The Copperheads (5-19) took a win over the Hamilton Joes (11-10) to close out their three-game series.
The Copperheads finished with nine runs, 10 hits and one error. The Joes had five runs, seven hits and two errors.
Rylan Sams (#16) started on the mound for the Copperheads. He had five strikeouts, three walks and three earned runs in 4.1 innings pitched.
At the bottom of the second, Cole Davis (#23) scored a home run to bring the Cheads up 1-0.
At the bottom of the fourth, Jayden Kennedy (#6) singled to center field and Josh Caudill (#17) walked. Lance Morgan (#30) grounded out to the pitcher; Caudill advanced to second and Jayden Kennedy advanced to third. Dawson Kennedy (#35) flied out to right field, Josh Caudill advanced to third, allowing Jayden Kennedy to score, making the game 2-0.
At the top of the fifth, the Joes scored two runs to tie the game 2-2. During the top of the fifth, Jack Bracken (#32) took the mound for the Cheads. He had five strikeouts, three walks and two earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched.
Hamilton scored two more runs to bring them up 2-4 going into the bottom of the fifth.
At the bottom of the fifth, Mason Wagner (#5) advanced to first off a hit by pitch and then stole second. Wagner stole third and Davis hit another home run to tie the game 4-4.
In the bottom of the seventh, Jayden Kennedy walked to first and then stole second. Caudill reached first on an error by the pitcher, then advanced to second. Jayden Kennedy scored to bring the Copperheads up 5-4. Morgan grounded out to shortstop and Caudill advanced to third. Dawson Kennedy singled to right field and Caudill scored to make the game 6-4. Konnor Pittman (#14) pinch ran for Dawson Kennedy. Easton Nuzum (#12) singled to left field; Pittman advanced to second. Eli Mandler (#18) walked to first off a hit by pitch. Wagner walked to first, Mandler to second and Nuzum to third, allowing Pittman to score. The Cheads went up 7-4 heading into the eighth inning.
The Joes scored another run in the top of the eighth to bring the score to 7-5.
In the bottom of the eighth, Caudill reached first on an error by the shortstop and advanced to second. Morgan tripled to left field and Caudill scored. Pittman grounded out to the pitcher and Morgan scored. The Copperheads went up 9-5 heading into the final inning.
Tino Diulus (#37) pitched the final inning for the Cheads. He had one strikeout.
The Joes weren’t able to put any more runs on the board in the ninth inning. The Copperheads took the win 9-5.
Cole Davis was the Wings Over Player of the Game. He had two home runs, two hits and three RBIs.

The Southern Ohio Copperheads is a community-owned, student-operated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Established in 2002, the Copperheads is a summer collegiate wooden bat baseball team that competes in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League and plays its home games at Bob Wren Stadium in Athens, OH. The Copperheads organization strives to provide the most affordable means of family-friendly outdoor entertainment in southeast Ohio. Tickets to the Copperheads games are $5 and children under the age of 5 receive free admission. Staffed by Ohio University students, the Southern Ohio Copperheads also serve as a “learning lab” for student interns looking to work in the sport and entertainment industry.
